Ice Cream Sandwich now Available for Verizon RAZR/MAXX

Yesterday was the last day of the 2nd quarter, and the good folks over at Motorola have delivered on their promise of sending Ice Cream Sandwich on the Verizon RAZR and RAZR MAXX. The update is available now, and if you don’t want to wait on a push notification, you can manually pull the update by going into settings –> about phone —> update. The update is large one, and you might want to allow an hour for the download and update, understand that you’re not going to be able to use the phone once the update is processing, which took about 15 minutes.

Most users are reporting no problems, and it went very smoothly on my wife’s MAXX. However, if you do have problems after the update goes through, you should go ahead and do a hard reset (press and hold volume down and power for ten seconds.)

The Ice Cream update for the Verizon RARZ/MAXX removes the LTE toggle. You force 3G by dialing *#*#4636#*#* – phone information – (scroll down a little) Select Network Type as CDMA Auto (PRL) and you are forcing 3G mode.

There are a bunch of really nice tweaks and coming from a Galaxy Nexus I am impressed on how Motorola handled the ICS update. However, I think that I have the one person on Earth that isn’t happy with the update, my wife is complaining about “everything looks different.” Different indeed, but so pretty in Halo theme.
