by Dave Thornton - on Feb 18th 2012 - No Comments

USA users may not know of the Arnova line of tablets, but, for  a cousin of Archos tablets that’s even cheaper than Archos main line of Android tablets. The newest member is the Arnova 8b G2. While it still runs Gingerbread on an 8-inch screen, but no physical buttons – which means that it could be in-line for an upgrade sooner rather than later. In the meantime, Android’s navigation buttons are moved to the status bar, a design decision seen on many cheap Gingerbread tablets. (more…)

Quadrant updated to v2.0

by Nick Sutrich - on Feb 17th 2012 - No Comments

The infamous de facto Android benchmark, Quadrant, has finally received that long awaited update to v2.0.  Once the standard of how good your new device really is and how well it performs, Quadrant fell to the wayside about a year ago when dual-core devices came out simply because it wasn’t built to support such things.  There of course was the little problem of it not being built for anything beyond Gingerbread (Android 2.3), and since we’re at 4.0 now there wasn’t much of a point in using it to measure the performance of newer devices.

Motorola Atrix 3 spotted?

by Nick Sutrich - on Feb 17th 2012 - No Comments

The Atrix was the first dual-core phone to hit the US, and even though it received a less-than-stellar followup at the end of the year last year, Motorola looks to be fixing that mistake with the Atrix 3.  Now this is entirely an unsubstantiated rumor, however it is rather exciting and not outside the realm of possibilities given Moto’s track record of hardware releases.  As you can see from the picture, the Atrix 3 will likely be loaded with a quad-core Tegra 3 SoC, 10MP camera with dual LED flash, a 3300mAh battery, 720p screen and even an insane 2GB of RAM. LG X3 Reavealed: the newest Tegra 3 quad-core phone.

by Nick Sutrich - on Feb 17th 2012 - No Comments

While I don’t understand why LG wouldn’t call this phone the X4 given that it’s a quad-core phone, the LG X3 probably derives it’s name from the chipset that it uses; Nvidia’s Tegra 3.  Last year the Tegra 2 made it’s rounds as the first dual-core chipset, setting new performance benchmarks and having some seriously incredible support from the gaming development community.  This year Nvidia continues to amaze with the first quad-core chipset to hit that market, and LG brings it to us in the form of this ultra-sleek and ultra-sexy device.  Forgoing the standard Ice Cream Sandwich theme of virtual buttons, LG looks to have added capacitive buttons on the face of the phone below the screen, which actually brings the screen to a full 1280×720 resolution.  Even more impressive is just how these specs stack up against the competition.  Check out the scores using the new and improved Quadrant 2.0: (more…)
