Galaxy S III gets official Jelly Bean update in Canada

Android 4.1.1 is heading to a Canadian Galaxy S III near you in the form of update I747MVLDLK4.  Specifically model SGH-I747M, which is carried on Bell, Telus, SaskTel, and Rogers for those who might be wondering.  Those wanting the update right now can check the Samsung Kies software, otherwise an over-the-air update should be headed your way soon.  Not exactly sure what this update will bring you?  Check out a few highlights:

  •  Better performance, thanks to Project Butter it’s even smoother and faster
  •  Reorganized settings menu
  •  2 Home screen modes
  •  New Notifications bar
  • Google Now
  • Resizable Pop-up windows

We’ve covered a number of these features over the past few months, so you’re undoubtedly familiar with most of them.  Resizable pop-up windows are something that was introduced with the Galaxy Note II’s version of Jelly Bean, and have a profound impact on the multi-tasking experience.  Samsung has other incredible multi-tasking features like multi-window, which regrettably aren’t in this particular update, but will likely come in the next one.  That’s Android 4.1.2 for other models of the Galaxy S III that have received it.  For now enjoy the significant performance improvements you’ll see with Jelly Bean, as well as the overall interface tweaks in the notification shade and the settings menu.
