Galaxy Note 2 bootloader unlocked again, Verizon owners rejoice
There is a new way to unlock the Verizon Galaxy Note 2 bootloader.
Verizon used a recent over-the-air update to close a hole that allowed their Galaxy Note 2 bootloader to be unlocked. It didn’t take long for Ralekdev and AdamOutler over at XDA to find a workaround. It is an entirely new exploit, but it’s applied in much the same way as the first one.
The new exploit is applied using Adam’s tool CASUAL. You can find download links and instructions in the XDA thread. It’s only supported for Linux and Windows users, at the moment. Windows users will need Samsung’s ODIN tool. AdamOutler even put together video walk-thrus for both the Linux and Windows methods.
The usual warnings apply here. There are risks when you start tinkering with your device, so be careful. Let us know in the comments if you were successful thwarting Verizon again.
