[App-News] VLC Coming Very Soon to Android

VLC media player for Android has been coming and coming and coming……….
But now an official port of this great program is winging its way to the Android OS very soon.
I’ve been using VLC on my Linux pc for, I don’t know how long, but I know I love it, just like Audacity.
The long wait may soon be over, after a message posted up on the VideoLAN Twitter account telling us the pending arrival of the release.
The message reads nothing more than “Android, here we come!”, but for users who have been relying on VLC as their one-stop-shop for media playback on their PCs, this is fantastic news.
After all, while Android may have plenty of video player apps, there’s little out there that can hold a candle to VLC when it comes to sheer compatibility, it’s just light years ahead of the others.
The main features of VLC are,
Simple, fast and powerful media player. Plays everything: Files, Discs, Webcams, Devices and Streams. Plays most codecs with no codec packs needed. MPEG-2, DivX, H.264, MKV, WebM, WMV, MP3. Runs on all platforms: Windows, Linux, Mac OS X, Unix…
Completely Free, 0 spyware, 0 ads and no user tracking. Can do Media Conversion and Streaming. See ALL the features here.

For the moment, the official VLC for Android page on the VideoLAN site reads that app should be ready in the next few days, but, today’s tweet leaves little doubt that some kind of announcement regarding the port’s availability is about to drop. Such a release would bring a huge following, not only from the Linux (Ubuntu and Fedora) community but also Windows and Mac users. With any luck, we’ll be seeing it released in just a matter of days.
We will be keeping a sharp eye out for this and a review will be up ASAP.
VideoLAN works under the open-source licenses, and Creative Commons Share-Alike License v3.0. And as such relies on donations as all the software is free, so think about giving them the price of a cup of coffee, or two.
