After failing to produce a compelling Android tablet, ViewSonic will now try their hand at producing low-end Android phones. Elizabeth Woyke of Forbes reports that ViewSonic will unveil the ViewPhone 3 at CES next week. This budget Android phone is aimed at the emerging Latin American markets, but ViewSonic will also sell an unlocked model in the US that will operate on AT&T and T-Mobile.

Highlights of the ViewPhone 3 includes:
Android 2.3 Gingerbread,
3.5-inch display,
5 megapixel camera,
800 MHz Qualcomm processor,
512 MB of RAM,
Dual SIM card slots.

ViewSonic plans to sell the phone directly to consumers through its website for around $250.
On paper the ViewPhone 3 doesn’t sound that exciting, but we will wait till we get our hands on it to pass judgment. We don’t often see two SIM card slots on low-end smartphones, but that’s not exactly something that the value seeker consumer will take advantage of.
