Sky Go to Launch on Android Next Month

Samsung To Merge Bada OS With MeeGo-Successor Tizen

Polaroid Unveils New Android ‘Smart’ Camera

Android has proven to be a truly adaptable platform and has been shoved into numerous phones and tablets that run the entire spectrum of sizes and form factors. Now Polaroid, the camera company whose name is synonymous with instant photos, has unveiled an Android powered camera.

Weighing in at 16 megapixels, the Polaroid SC1630, brings social connectivity to the world of point and shoot cameras. Featuring a 3x optical zoom, you’ll be able to get more up close and personal than with your average camera while Wifi and optional cellular connectivity will allow you to upload and share your photos as you take them.

Full specs have yet to be released so, for now, the version of Android it will be running, the processor, and RAM are unknown. It does feature a 3.2 inch touchscreen and will have access to the Android Market.

With the SC1630, it seems that Polaroid is looking to leverage the capabilities of the Android platform and marry it to a camera that that is of a higher quality that you will find an your average smartphone. The ability to geotag, edit, upload, and share your photos as you take them will undoubtedly prove irresistible to the amateur photo-hound.
