[Hardware Review] Archos 80 G9

by Dave Thornton - on Feb 15th 2012 - No Comments

Archos was making touchscreen tablets well before the iPad existed, but that doesn’t mean the company operates in the shadow of Apple’s device any less than the next competitor. Now Archos is aiming to step out from that darkness with the 80 G9 tablet. With a 1080p screen, HDMI output and speedy 1-GHz ARM processor, the 80 G9 will likely turn heads given its $299 price tag. But how does it compare with the increasingly crowded market of budget tablets? Read more after the break. (more…)

When Amazon released UI updates to the Amazon Appstore and Kindle applications several months ago, the Android Amazon MP3 app was not included. Though their is a lot of people who have their music uploaded to Amazon’s cloud,

When it comes to searching the internet Google is not prefect (not far away, but not perfect) and not the only way to find information. It’s very true that search is it’s golden egg but, now and again a app comes along that just, I repeat just might be able to gather the information faster, smarter and efficiently.

[App Review] GoSMS Pro, Update.

by Dave Thornton - on Feb 13th 2012 - No Comments

In this latest update we see improvements across the app. The reduction of memory usage is one of the most important to users as it helps to keep your device’s speed stable, and not slow it down.
Better optimization with auto-backup is really good. Sound and vibrate can now be disabled by default, for me this is a good point as friends in the USA are 5 hours behind, having sound disabled is great. Read more after break. (more…)

Case Review: Distronic & Ringke SLIM for Galaxy Nexus

by Broadwayblues - on Feb 9th 2012 - 1 Comment

There is something very personal about a case. Not only is it trusted to protect your phone in the event of a drop, it is a also one of the most visible ways that a phone can be personalized. The case has to fit tightly, look good, feel good in the hand and work with any accessories that might be on the phone, most notably, an extended battery.

There are also variables like the material that is used, how slippery the case is, resistance to oils, water and fingerprints. Some cases can chip, some come apart too easily, and some are just too flimsy. Finding a great case that is all that you are looking for is an extremely personal decision, and most of the time you don’t get that alone time with it before you put your cold hard cash on the counter. Wait, we are still talking about phone cases right?

With all of these variables in mind, I want you to look at two cases that I have really enjoyed using on my Galaxy Nexus.  (more…)
