T-Mobile Galaxy S II Ice Cream Sandwich upgrade available

Just in time for that Father’s Day 2012 sale, Samsung and T-Mobile have released the official Ice Cream Sandwich (Android 4.0) upgrade to the T-Mobile Galaxy S II.

If you don’t care for the HTC One S and it’s Sense 4.0 ways, then maybe the larger-but-lower-res 4.5″ screen and Touchwiz interface of the Galaxy S II is more your flavor.  Samsung has been very good about keeping it’s previous generation devices updated this time around, unlike the dastardly lack of upgrades on it’s FroYo (Android 2.2) to Gingerbread (Android 2.3) devices.  Interestingly enough this update also provides IPv6 functionality on the phone; something T-Mobile needs to continue to expand it’s 4G HSPA+ and LTE networks.  Unfortunately this is one of those “we’re not cool enough to just let you download it” updates, and you’re going to have to follow Samsung’s instructions found here.  No sweat off your brow though, and you’ll be sure to have a more fluid and fantastic experience after the update, guaranteed!  If all goes well you’ll be presented by the following lovely screen:
