Samsung details Exynos 5
Samsung announced the Exynos 5 Dual aka Exynos 5250 in November last year and now they’ve published a whitepaper detailing the upcoming SoC. It is the world’s first SoC to sport Cortex-A15 and have made some changes from the last time. For instance, the 32nm Exynos 5 Dual will now have two cores running at a clock speed of 1.7GHz instead of 2GHz. However, the lower clock speed is still able to pip Exynos 4 that is based on Cortex-A9. To put it in perspective, Exynos 5 Dual has DMIPS/MHz 40 percent higher and offers 2 times better performance than Exynos 4 Dual.
Additionally, the new SoC supports quad-core Mali-T604 GPU, WQXGA (2560×1600) resolution, full HD video recording and playback support, USB 3.0, SATA and LPDDR3 800MHz RAM.
