HTC Connect Coming to One Series

HTC smartphones just got a little smarter, with today’s launch of HTC Connect.
The program is designed to build upon HTC’s audio and visual standards to allow more seamless connection between the mobile company’s products and separate consumer electronics. For phone users, it will mean high-quality, wireless audio and video from your smartphone to compatible in-home and in-car devices, according to a company press release.
Smartphones have created a new platform for music listeners and video watchers, making multimedia content available on-the-go and almost anywhere. Now, HTC wants to expand that accessibility to your home.

HTC chief product officer Kouji Kodera said in a statement;

“The vision for HTC Connect is to allow our customers to easily stream their favorite high-quality video and audio from their smartphone into their home or car.”

Initial HTC Connect-certified products are Digital Living Network Alliance (DLNA)-based, but the company expects to build the program to include Bluetooth, near field communication, wireless speakers, and car audio and video.
Pioneer Electronics is HTC’s first Connect partner. The feature will be part of Pioneer’s 2012 lineup of DLNA-capable audio/video receivers and wireless speakers.

Russ Johnston, executive vice president of Pioneer Electronics Home Electronics Division said;

“The use of smartphones as primary content sources in the home is a trend that’s developing very quickly, and HTC is helping to provide a much-needed solution for a very significant and growing part of the market.”

The HTC One series of smartphones is expected to receive HTC Connect via a software update in the coming months.
