Verizon Samsung Galaxy S III Firmware Released, but Locked Down Tight
While there are a lucky few that got their hands on Verizon’s Samsung Galaxy S III this week, there hasn’t been much in the way of rooting or unlocking at all. Samsung Galaxy S III firmware is available, but upon closer inspection this doesn’t appear to be official Samsung Galaxy S III firmware. Even if it is a copy of the official Samsung Galaxy S III firmware, nobody has really needed to use it considering that there appears to be an extra layer of protection that’s stopping the usual method of rooting and unlocking on Verizon’s version of the popular handset. It shouldn’t come as much of a surprise, with the Samsung Galaxy Nexus having the honor of actually being able to unlock and root with ease, that yet another device is locked down tight.
The guys and gals are digging away at the wall that Verizon’s built around the heart of the Verizon Samsung Galaxy S III, but while their isn’t much progress going on at the moment, that’s not to say that once the phone gets into more hands that the walls won’t be breached.
The Samsung Galaxy S III is officially released on Verizon on July 10th.
